Welcome to my rescue. We opened our doors October 2014 with the goal of helping overloaded players as well as unwanted dogs here on Furry Paws. It is my firm and unwavering belief that all pets deserve a loving forever home. Even if I am the one that has to provide it. It is my hope that you will find your new forever friend here amongst my kennels. Every dog in this rescue was either explicitly given to my rescue, adopted from the game Humane Society, or was scooped up from players that posted in the forums that it was their desire to rid themselves of their animals.

What you can expect from Burkewood?

• Responsible Dog Care – Burkewood dogs are cared for daily. Including feeding, playing, grooming, training, and showing.
• An open door – You can surrender a dog(s) to us at any time no questions asked. Even if you adopted them from us to begin with. If I have the room and resources, I'll take them.
• That we do not simply put our dogs on lock and ignore them. I am continuously trying to better, level, and otherwise make the dogs in my rescue more adoptable.
• Kennel checks – I will check your kennel if you are interested in one of my animals.
• Honesty – If I do not feel you are a good match for my animals, I will deny your application.

What I expect from you

• Responsible Dog Care – This means daily care of your current dogs as well as any Burkewood dogs you make take in. This means that you will not knowingly take on more dogs than you can care for, breed irresponsibly, or buy and dump animals. I will continue to check up on your kennel even after I have sold you a dog and reserve the right to blacklist you for future adoptions.
• It is my preference that you specialize in the breed of dog that you are trying to adopt from me. It is not required but I feel more confident in allowing my dogs to go to kennels that will be excited to include these dogs into their competition and breeding program.
• I expect that you are not a rescue. It makes no sense to me to adopt a dog out of my rescue and into another. I would like to find them homes that will hopefully be permanent.
• That if for any reason you are no longer able to care for the Burkewood dog you've adopted that you will bring the dog back to me. I would rather take the dog back than see it early retired or irresponsibly sold.

I found a dog I want, now what?

Send me a private message with the link and/or name of the dog you are interested in. From there I can do my initial kennel check and we can move forward with the adoption process. I reserve the right to refuse any application for any reason. You will be able to reapply for a dog after no less than two weeks after a refusal. If you are for any reason blacklisted by my rescue I will disclose that to you privately when I deny your application.

Don't worry! Aside from my personal pets which are labeled any dog in the NFS Kennel will be moved over once they have reached level 5 and are registered in their casso. If you really love a dog in the NFS kennel, feel free to message me about it. You can put a deposit down on the dog and I'll reserve it for you and it will be transferred to you for the remainder of the price when it reaches level five.

How much will the dog cost? Easy answer – it varies. We can discuss the price of the dog that you're interested in because there are several things that factor in. When I receive a dog I start at a flat rate and then each day the costs of training and shows are added in. I do not charge for vaccines as I use a free clinic and hope that the costs of food/toys/beds/chews etc is offset by donations and any money earned from leveling dogs and showing dogs. So you are only being charged for what the dog costs me to care for it. We can discuss the price if it's a problem I am sometimes willing to take items in place of price or a combo of money and items. I'm pretty flexible.

I'm glad to hear you'd like to give your dog a forever home after all. Feel free to message me and we can fill out an application and do a kennel check. I regret that it isn't my policy to accept an animal and the immediately return it to you if you've changed your mind. You have to apply like anyone else.

Donations

I accept donations! As previously mentioned rescues are not cheap to run so the generosity of those of you that care about the dogs and support what I do is appreciated more than I can express. I could not do what I do without all of you! We will gladly take items that do not have full uses. We can always use food, chews, toys, beds, bowls, FPD, and grooming supplies. People that donate to the rescue will be added to the “Friends of Burkewood” section below, have priority in future adoptions (if there are several people interested in the same animal), and have priority over other users on the waitlist.
