About 3 months ago I bought a car from LVMotorz (702-517-7777). Even before I put my down payment on the car, they were giving me problems. I knew I had a bad feeling about it but I was desperate for a car. Wasn't sure if it was because I am a girl, or if they scam everyone they do business with. It's a backyard dealership, and they can hardly understand english it seems.
When I went to look at the car, I told them I liked it, and would have to come the next day to put the down payment on it and test drive it. The guy selling me the car tried to play his first game "Oh, well I actually had a woman offer to put $3,500 down on the car" (trying to get me to put more than the asked $2,500) I told him "fine, then she can have it. Listen, if you don't play games with me, I won't play them with you, I'm not going to fight for a car!" The guy just laughed knowing I caught him in a game I'm sure he plays with every girl, and said "okay"
When I went to test drive the car, we made a long list of things that needed to be taken care of with the car. They promised me they'd take care of all the issues (I put a 500 holding deposit down on the car)
When I went back to the main location, I was stupid, and they wouldn't let me leave without signing a paper stating everything was taken care of. I trusted they took care of everything, put another $2400 down on the car (totaling $2,900) It was then when I picked up the car that the $5,999 car they advertised, thanks to a ton of interest they put on, is now almost $9,000!!! I thought, so long as the car is working like they said it is, as do the papers they're showing me, then it's still worth it.
(Note, at this time I didn't yet have insurance on the car because I wanted to get it into a mechanic before I chanced wasting any more money on it, they let me take it, and refused to give me the green slip, said I could have it with my next payment)
A couple days after that, my friend and I go up to the mountains, and the coolant light comes on. So we pull over to check it out. The coolant looked burnt, it was a thick dark brown, almost like oil... We thought, they had either not changed the coolant (like they promised they would) or their mechanic is just dumb, and put oil in the coolant. With that trip up and down the mountains, I made a list as to issues I was noticing weren't taken care of which they told me they were.
So the next day I took it to Midas. Without showing them my list, I gave them the car to see if they'd find the same issues, and not only did they tell me the coolant needed to be changed, but gave me a list of problems totaling over $1,300 to repair, most of which I already knew was a problem, because it was things I found wrong (that the dealers said they took care of)
So I contacted them and took the car back. They had it over a week. The day I decided to go back to get it, I was contacted by their finance department demanding I give them MORE info than I already had given them (which before they told me I didn't need) And if I didn't give them all the information, they would have to keep the car, or my payments and interest would go up even more! Then they got upset because I told them I was waiting to get insurance on the car because I didn't want them using my insurance to fix the car (I was told they could do that) I also told them I didn't want to get insurance on it until I got another mechanic to look at the car because I didn't trust theirs, I also told them I already talked to my insurance guy who I use for my motorcycle, and that my insurance guy told me he doesn't like the sound of the dealership or the car! (which was true, the head insurance guy at stevens insurance progressive would admit to saying that.)
I'm sure they thought I was up to something When I told them I was only paying the payment, and leaving the car there. I was going to get set-up to sue them in attempts to hopefully get my money back. This was only the 2nd time they took the car back, so the "3 times lemon law" was not in affect just yet. Due to an accident I was in with my motorcycle (fluke accident, involving no one) which put my bike into a shop, I needed transportation to get to work, so although my insurance company wasn't happy to insure it, they did, and I went to pick up the car.
It ran for a few days just fine, and then the service light came on. Frustrated, I took it back, and picked it up a couple days later. The light still being on they told me "even though the light is on, being a Saturn, it needs a special item to reset the light, but if you have more problems, you can bring it back again"
I live 45 mins away from the location, wasting gas each time to get over there, then I need to borrow my moms car to get to work each day without a car, putting us both in a bad situation.
After that, the car seemed to run fairly decent the next few weeks, I could tell it still wasn't perfect, but I didn't want to waste my time to have them keep looking at it. I even drove it out to Pahrump (farthest I felt safe) for a dog agility competition. Driving back, I smelt a smokey smell, but by the time I got to where I was going, it had stopped. Leter, I took my mom and brother out to dinner, and they said they smelt it coming from the car too.
I asked them where to take it, and they told me the mechanic they go to, Yoyo's mechanic, and to take the car there. When I got there, I didn't tell the mechanic who sent me, and after he looked at the car, and said "a piece was cracked and is leaking oil out of the car and NEEDED to be fixed, but would cost about $300 to fix" I told him that the people at LVmotorz told me to go here, and that'd he'd fix it. That was when the mechanic took a closer look at the car, recognizing it, and said "you don't need it, the car will still run without it"
To which I replied "My car is leaking oil onto the engine, and I NEED a $300 piece, but the car will run without it?" He said "yeah, it's fine."
Tell me how that's fine?! But I knew I wasn't getting anywhere with him, so decided to see how far I could push it. Probably a week and a half later the "check engine light came on", and a day later 11/28/12 I was leaving for work. Started my car, put it in reverse, pushed on the gas to back up, and it was rolling (the slow coast you get when you take your foot off the break on automatics), but had no power (the reduced power light was now on, along with the service light, and the check engine light) I thought it was because I wasn't on the gas enough. So I put the car in "Drive" and hit the gas. Nothing. Hit the gas again, and other than the normal slow coast, Nothing!. Put the car in park, and keeping myself from hitting my head on the steering wheel, turned off the car.
I then turned it back on, the "reduced power" light went off, and the car was working "sucky normal" again. Managed to get to and from work, hoping I will make it tomorrow!!!
I text the guy (I want a paper trail, and can't record without permission, so didn't call) telling him "I continue to have problems with my Saturn, I've taken it back to you guys enough times for the law to be in my hands. I don't understand why you continue to waste my time with a mechanic who doesn't do as he says. No more negotiations. I'm done with you guys. I request you return every penny I have paid towards this car by Friday 5:00pm or I will contact every news station who deals with scammers like you, not to mention our family attorneys if further action is required"
"pass by Yoyo and see him in person. Tomorrow. Don't talk to anyone. Else." He said in reply.
I said "No. I'm done. Last time you told me to go there, it didn't do me any good, and only wasted my time. I don't trust them, or you. Again, no negotiations. I will get my money back by friday, or I will expose how bad both the companies are to deal with. Let me know when you have my money"
"I don't like the way you are treating us and calling us names after the effort we have put in to help you. If you wanted a perfect car, you should have bought new"
As far as I'm concerned, they have done nothing to help me, everything they have said they would do for me, they have lied about. They would yell at me over the phone, and cut me off without giving me a chance to speak. I sent them one last text tonight which reads...
"Thank you for admitting you sold me a lousy car! You're right, I shouldn't have trusted you from the beginning! but when you say you'll fix the car and I bring it back 4 times to you, I don't appreciate you wasting my time, and whether it's you or the mechanic lying to me saying you're fixing a problem, I don't appreciate that, and for that, can't trust you, nobody can, and I'll make sure it gets out if I can't get my money back. What's it worth to you? I need a refund in 3 days. Don't respond again unless it's conformation my money is ready to be picked up"
He didn't respond to that, but knowing them, they will not cooperate, and I'm just starting this fight till they get what they deserve. I know I'm not the first person they've done this to, and I would hate for more people to have to go through all this trouble. So sorry this was so long, but these people have been playing me since they got me to take the car. So far, I've put nearly $4,000 down (on an advertised $5,999 car), and to keep my credit from going bad, will have to make another payment in the next day or two. I'm tired of all this drama they continue to put me through, and I know the only way to make it stop with these people is to fight them for my money back and be rid of them!
Thank you for listening,
~Kristi
