Steadfast Hearts Kennel

I've Got Quality Newfoundlands on Furry-Paws.com I've Got Quality Cavalier King Charles Spaniels on Furry-Paws.com

My kennel is still a work in progress, as I joined FP less than two months ago. I'm trying to learn how the site works on a deeper level. (Also, I currently spend most of my time getting ready for graduate school this fall!!!) I want to emulate the best practices of "real" kennels, while forgoing an exclusive fixation on confirmation showing and color genetics.

I have some basic plans: I want to specialize mostly in Newfoundlands and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. But... the occasional Samoyeds, Leonbergers, Great Pyrenees, Bernese Mountain Dogs, and Kooikerhondjes are also going to show up. I have a huge weakness for fluffy, people-oriented dogs who have strong drives to do what they're bred for. (In the case of Cavaliers, that's to be close to and calmly supportive of their humans, as well as to be beautiful :D As they were bred down from hunting spaniels, running and sniffing are also their "jobs".)

Going forward, all my dogs that I breed and raise will be double-trained-- in both Show AND another sport hopefully related to their breed's historic use. I realize my dogs will not level as high as they would if I only single-trained them, but I prefer to play the game as a simulation of a real life kennel- and I believe strongly that kennels should do both confirmation showing and dog sports. In the case of Cavaliers, this will probably mean Musical Freestyle, Obedience, Rally-O, or Scent Hurdles. For Newfoundlands, this will probably mean Pulling, Water Work, Obedience, or Dock Diving.
