OUR DOGS
Belgian Malinois
There is a reason that the Belgian Malinois stands right besides the ever famous German Shepherd dog as the most popular war/police dog. Belgian Malinois' were born to work. They live for work, and ever so often, they die for work. This dog will chase the ball until they literally fall on the ground from exhaustion, rather than end the game. It is a strong, fearless breed that will do anything for their handler, and who have saved the lives of their handlers and innocent civilians countless times. They require a lot of mental and physical exercise, and their top rated intelligence allows for them to excel in anything. If you can teach it, your Malinois can learn it. If given insufficient exercise, however, the dog will pace, and pace and pace. They can become destructive if not given enough mental and physical exercise. Did I mention they will pace? They need an experienced owner who will know how to train and discipline one of these energy mills appropriately. Once trained, the Malinois will be one of the most excellent, loyal, and obedient dogs anyone could ask for.
Akita
Although a less traditional guard dog in modern America, Akitas have been serving as faithful companions and guard dogs since ancient times. One of the oldest breeds of dogs, the Akita was famous for guarding Japanese royalty as far back as the 1600s. Akitas also have a name as hunting dogs, used for hunting all sorts of game, such as deer, boar, and even bears. They are famous for their loyalty, largely thanks to Hachiko, the Akita that died waiting for his master to come home. They are a fearless, loyal, strong, and demanding breed. The Akita is not the easiest dog to train, which is common in ancient breeds, due to the stubborn streak that occurs in them. However, with the right owner an Akita can excel in anything. They are highly protective of their owner and their property, and, if allowed, can become aggressive. They tend to have aggression towards other dogs, especially of the same sex, so it is recommended that they be the only dog in the household. This dog can be a challenge for he inexperienced owner, but for those who understand the breed and the requirements to properly raise and train one, the Akita can be a highly rewarding and loyal companion and protector for life.
