Breeding Programme

The mission is to produce and maintain genetically unique racers of the Silken Windhound breed from scratch.

Breeding from the 1st generation
First of all, you need a big population of New dogs. I started with buying puppies: 37 M (Males) and 37 F (Females). I recommend raising them to level 10, registering them in a Casso, so you get better Health quality puppies.

1st goal litter size

We want homozygous lala individuals.
Focus on getting the litter size bigger, step by step! It is not a problem if you have some l allele in your population. To produce the second generation, first of all we want to have broad options to choose from (=big litters = la and L alleles). If you have lla or ll dogs, dont panic! FEMALES
Desirable alleles: la or L, so you will have a bigger litter of more options later on.
Best genotypes: lala, Lla, LL.
Acceptable genotypes: Ll, but not desirable
Cull these genotypes: ll, lla, because they will produce small litters with little option to choose from and will give undesirable alleles to the progeny.
We can be more flexible with males, but we want them to be carriers of L or la: lala, Lla, LL.

UNDESIRABLE: red
6) markings 1. solid & piebalds 2. any other marking
UNDESIRABLE: black sables, masks, light undersides on dark solids (black, brindle, red, choclate)
